NCBR Puppies
Twas a spring day in Cali when the shelter did ring,
The news was exciting, it was quite the big thing!
The new girl we tagged gave us an early surprise,
Seven little puppies, 2 gals and 5 guys!
Of course we were thrilled and grateful to boot,
These pups and their mama are just too darn cute!
But after the shock of it all wore off,
We began to run numbers and calculate costs!
Seven newborn pups, though small they may be,
Can run up a bill faster than heartworms and fleas!
Formula and food, dew claws and docks,
Spays and neuters, chips and shots!
It adds up quite quickly in multiples of seven,
But perhaps the most alarming info has yet to be given:
We've rescued ANOTHER female who will whelp a NEW litter,
So, as you can imagine, our treasurer's heart is a flitter!
Once again we must ask you to come to our aid,
And, as always, we thank you for the lives you help save!
