Other Info: Update 3/21: An Update from Bunker's foster mom - Drum roll please...........
Bunker went to the vet today for heartworm test, vaccs and fecal. Oh yeah, he was also weighed - are you ready? 46.2 lbs - that is up from 29.7 on March 8th. (13 days)
He will have his neuter next Tuesday and will be ready (shortly after that) to make a wonderful companion to a wonderful family.
He's a very special boy.......a bit more quiet and laid back than the Boxers I've known (especially my own) but a very sweet lapdog, ready to play, loves balls, loves his girlfriend Lulu and is quite obedient already.
We'll continue doing what we are and he will soon be ready for the Boxer version of Chippendales ('cept he'll be neutered).
Marlene

UPDATE 3/8: Bunker saw the vet today, he is still not out of the woods yet and we won't know for awhile if there will be permanent damage caused by his condition. His blood panel is not where we hoped it would be at this poiint, one day at a time. In the mean time he is getting lots of loving carefrom foster mom Marlene, foster brother Mac and sister Luna.
UPDATE 3/1: Bunker has done very well through the weekend. He is now able to stand with a little more strength. Today he began to eat on his own and will now slowly be taken off of the IV antibiotics. We hope Bunker will continue on this road to recovery! This could not have happened without all his "fans" out there, we thank you ALL VERY MUCH!!!!
UPDATE 3/1: Bunker had a ER exploratory laparotomy today and our vet found found a foreign object in his stomach that weighed 1 pound 11 OZ and was the size of a couple of bricks. It was a difficult surgery because the vet had a very hard time just getting his stomach out of his abdominal cavity, thats how swollen the stomach had become. She believed the object was primarily a large foam object like a nurf football which had absorbed rocks, grass, etc and formed a solid, rock hard mass. Bunker is now on IV fluids, multiple IV antibiotics and IV pain meds. The next 24-72 hour will tell us whether he is going to survive, but atleast now he stands a chance.
2/28: Bunker was a stray in the Sacramento area and found himself at the local shelter. Due to his obvious need for immediate medical attention we were able to pull him right away and get him to our veterinarian on 2/28. Once to the vet we performed a series of tests, 2 X-ray's, liver and kidney studies and a CBC. We believe that Bunker may have a foreign object in his stomach, so today he is being prepped for surgery with IV fluids/antibiotics. His very frail body may not survive through the surgery, but he will surely not survive without it. Please help Bunker by making a donation to help with his care. NCBR is only able to rescue boxers like Bunker with help from the community! All donation amounts are helpful and appreciated!

Breed: Boxer -male
Color: Flashy Brindle
Ears: Natural Tail: Natural
Vet care: Complete Age: Adult
Housebroken: Yes
Good w/other dogs? Yes
Cats? No Children? Over 10 |
Other Info: While it is true that Dodger has had a very tough life, he warmed up to life with our pack of dogs very well and has become quite well balanced and very obedient.
He is now crate trained, house trained, leash trained, socialized to public walks. Its really cute to watch him meet and greet new people. He LOVES men and older boys best!
When asked, he will gently give a sweet Boxer hug. He has his Playful times, but is by far the calmest one of our pack.
Dodger chases cats when outside. Not our chickens, not our pig or horses, just the cats. He stops when told NO. He has excellant recall, behaves beautifully off leash, and is the ONLY dog in our home that does not bark.
This beatiful big guy would do well as an only dog, or with other dogs large or small. He prefers men and teenagers, and requests no small children, please! They make him nervous. Could YOU be his forever home?

Other Info: Don’t let this boys appearance fool you, he’s definitely Boxer, he’s just undercover! He’s an agent of CTUs K9 division and he’s attempting to sniff out a mole in the agency, or was it a bone? All of the classically identifiable Boxer traits including kidney bean wiggle, trampoline, and the tongue of slobber, all occur in real time!
Seriously, Bandit is definitely Boxer; he’s just got an extra long snout. He’s actually our second foster Boxer with a longer snout and less pronounced “lip cheese.” Otherwise though he’s got all the character that we’ve grown to love about Boxers. His ears are cropped and he’s been recently fixed and he appears to be in perfect health.
He wasn’t potty trained when he came to us but he’s making excellent progress including waking us up at 5 AM to let us know he’s got to go! He’s good with other dogs and children but should be fed by himself. He didn’t have a name when we got him but he came to us the same day as another dog named Smokey so his name became obvious. He kind of looks like a bandit so be careful, maybe he’s the mole inside CTU!? Even if he is, he’s got plenty of personality and love for his future adoptive family!

Other Info: Now this guy is a sweetheart -and to think they were thinking about
putting him down.... just wants big hugs and will put his front legs around your neck to get them. he is good with kids - tolerates cats but must watch him. As long as he has something to chew on he is one big happy camper - he doesn't even care if your feet are still in your socks. Has met our neighborhood skunk that was fun. Loves to run & play keeps the grandkids busy tugging and romping around. He has put on some weight and is looking good - great personality - just loves to run and fetch - but has a hard time releasing his toys We have had him over to the dog park- does well with the other dogs - except for certain ones - but that is understandable. The female that we have is not happy with the attention he gets - and she can stare him down if need be. He could almost care less - he is fun loving and full of energy
