STEP
1:
Read this page in its entirety. Next read Requirements and Policy's, then if you qualify complete our on-line adoption questionnaire. Incomplete
or applications that don't meet our requirements and policy's will be discarded. You must answer all
questions, use as much detail as you like. You also
must include your physical home address, NOT a P.O.
Box. We will not answers any questions about our available
dogs until you completely fill out our on-line adoption
questionnaire. We do not adopt out of the state or south of the Fresno area!
* Please
note: If you have submitted an application and want
to find out the status, please e-mail apply_ca@ncbr.org. If you do not receive a response within 48 hours, please re-submit your application. All applications are responded to via e-mail not by phone, so please be sure to check your e-mail often.
STEP 2:
You will be contacted by a NCBR representative via e-mail
to discuss your application. You can expect to answer
more questions regarding your application. At this time
our available dogs will be discussed to determine which
dog may be a match for your family, a home inspection
will also be scheduled.
* Please
note that we do not operate on a first come first serve
basis. Our dogs are placed into the most suitable home
according to their temperament and needs. It is not
abnormal for multiple families to be interested in the
same dog.
STEP 3:
After the initial contact mentioned above and if you
are approved for adoption you will be put in contact
with the family fostering the boxer you are interested
in. At that time the foster home will ask more questions
and if they feel you are a suitable match a visit with
the dog will be scheduled.
* Please
note: When visiting the dogs, you must be willing to
travel to the home of the foster family, you also must
schedule a time where your entire family (including
any current dogs) can be present to meet and interact
with the dog.
STEP 4:
After approval comes from the foster family and the
home inspection is approved, you will then make arrangements
to come pick up your new boxer.
Adoption Day
An exciting day for all of us!! Please
be prepared to bring your new boxer home. You will
need to have a list of supplies already purchased to
make the transition as easy as possible for your family
and the dog. Dog Bowls, food, treats, crate (if necessary)
and a leash.
It is at this time you be signing the
adoption agreement and paying the adoption fee.
Adoption Fee $290.00
All adoption donations include all
current vaccinations, heartworm test, health exam, fecal, spay/neuter and a microchip.
Please remember that
the adoption donation is not for purchase of a dog,
but rather to cover the medical cost of all dogs in
our care. Read
more about adoption fees.
How Long does this process
usually take?
The application process can take some
time. We don't rush the placements of our boxers. We
need to ensure that the appropriate dog is placed into
the most suitable environment.
What happens after the
adoption?
Part of the NCBR adoption contract will
dictate that you schedule communication with us, this
must be done at the end of the first month. There are
several reasons for this. One, so we can ensure all
is going well, the dog and family are adapting and that
there are no problems that need to be addressed. Also,
our foster families put allot of time and love into
their foster dogs, communicating with the new homes
helps foster families ensure that the dog is happy,
healthy and being properly cared for.
