The Jeffrey Qualls Memorial Fund

Jeffrey Qualls passed away unexpectedly on July 11, 2009 at the age of 34. He and his life partner, Ed Qualls, were longtime Boxer lovers and parents to NCBR alum, Jason, as well as Maggie, Wicket and Nixon. Jeffrey and Ed were also avid supporters of several animal rescue organizations, NorCal Boxer Rescue of Texas and Animal Rescue of Texas, in particular.
We at NCBR are always incredibly grateful when our Boxers are adopted by extraordinary families, and this was certainly the case when Jeffrey and Ed adopted Jason. Jason, or "Witten" as he was known during his time at NCBR, was a pitiful Boxer puppy who was severely malnourished and plagued with a terrible case of mange. After several months of rehab and lots of TLC, he began to heal, gain weight and come out of his shell, but it wasn't until he was adopted by Jeffrey and Ed that he truly flourished. The love and care that Jason received from his new family was remarkable. He became a handsome, healthy and well adjusted Boxer, and as his foster mom, I was consistently amazed at his transformation and will always be indebted to the Qualls for giving Jason the life that he deserved from birth.
Jeffrey's passing is a tremendous blow to the many, many people who loved and respected him. He will most certainly be missed, but his legacy must live on through the lives of those that he touched. We at NCBR would like to honor this legacy by establishing the Jeffrey Qualls Memorial Fund. It is our hope that Jeffrey's love for animals will continue to be embodied by the many Boxers, like Jason, who find new life at NCBR, even in his absence.
