Training Philosophy
Golden Rule Dog Training's goal is to help your dog be the best family member he/she can be. Most dogs need help in learning what is appropriate behavior in a home environment and formal training is often very beneficial in establishing rules and boundaries that the dog understands. Whether you have a newly acquired puppy, a dog who needs help with basic obedience, or a "special needs" dog who requires specific behavioral modifications, training can help.
Golden Rule Dog Training uses the lure/reward method to show dogs what we want them to do. After they know this, we fade out the use of the treat. Gone are the days of leash-jerks and forced training! Science has discovered that dogs learn better and retain what they learn when taught with methods that encourage trust. We use only humane, "dog-friendly" methods to train your dog.
The Trainer
Elaine Berg is an active, professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). She supports and fulfills the APDT mission of advocating gentle, "dog-friendly" methods of training. Her clients report that her lessons are highly motivating and fun, and her passion for training comes through in each lesson. Elaine has been studying and working with dogs for over 20 years. She actively keeps her skills up-to-date by attending seminars and workshops taught by international experts and by participating in daily discussions with other trainers across the country.
Elaine is also a very active volunteer with NorCal Boxer Rescue. She donates her time and expertise to help dogs in the NCBR foster program overcome various issues and enables them to become the best dogs they can be!
