The vision of NCBR came to me in June of 1998 when I realized the need for a reputable Boxer rescue organization in Northern California . I began by obtaining our non-profit status and contacting California shelters to introduce our organization and offer our assistance with their boxer population. In our first year we rescued and re-homed 268 boxers. In November 2001 I relocated to Richardson Texas and began a second chapter of NCBR.
I am involved in rescue because every year millions of dogs are euthanized. The fact is most are euthanized merely due to the vast numbers of unwanted animals. They are euthanized because of irresponsible owners and back yard breeders. In many cases these are the lucky ones. I firmly believe that there are worse things than death.
The efforts of NCBR are not going to solve the problems of pet overpopulation and we are not going to save the world, but if we can make a difference and change the lives of those boxers that need our assistance, we have made a difference!
NCBR is my full time job. It is for the most part a thankles job, except when you look into the eyes of a foster dog or the loving families that are touched by their adoptive boxer. I am actively involved in the day to day activities of our California chapter with the help of our amazing group of West Coast Volunteers.
