Imagine a dog that is excellent with kids, loving and patient by nature, a good protector, and super fun to have around--all in one handsome package! Now imagine the hundreds of these dogs being put down every day in shelters across our nation. This is the sad reality of our world today, but exactly the reason I volunteer with NorCal Boxer Rescue. Like you, I am fighting to save the boxer!
I was first introduced to NCBR in 2004, while looking for a playmate for my 1-year old boxer boy. I soon welcomed home Sophie, a 2-year old affectionate girl with sweet teddy bear eyes and unlimited licks to give! She and my boy Tyson clicked right away and have been the best of friends since! The entire experience was a positive one for me, and I gained not only a new family member, but also new friends (who are even more crazy about boxers than I am)! I became a full-fledged volunteer the summer of 2006 and have only grown in my passion for boxers since.
I am grateful that a group of people with this level of dedication exists and is working to give boxers a second chance at life. It is amazing how much we accomplish together, but there are still so many boxers NorCal cannot take in because we simply do not have enough foster homes. If you are interested in helping foster a boxer, you will be very literally saving a life that might otherwise be destroyed. Click here to learn more about fostering.
