Update from Diesel's new home:
Diesel (now Porter) had his final obedience training class last night. Although he's far from being featured on "America's Most Obedient Dogs", he has come a long way in the last 8 weeks. He's much more tolerant of other dogs (HUGE improvement there!), has learned the basics of "sit", "stay", "wait", "come", "watch me", and "leave it", and even picked up a couple of tricks along the way. We still have some work to do, but with time I'm sure he'll get the hang of everything. Putting him on the Gentle Leader helps a bunch for getting and keeping his attention in situations where he shouldn't be wandering much. Although I prefer to keep him on his regular leash and harness when we're just out for a casual stroll, I'll definitely keep using the Gentle Leader when we're in crowded areas or at times when I need to keep his full attention.
So last night we had a little graduation party for him, featuring McDonald's cheeseburgers, pig's ears, compressed rawhides, and Frosty Paws. Amazingly after all of that he didn't get sick, though he slept really well last night!

Patches
Patches is probably one of the sweetest and smartest puppies, I have ever had and known. She is already sitting, staying and laying down w/ simple hand commands. We forget that she is deaf because she does everything hearing pups do. She will do anything for treats and extra attention. She barks when she wants to tell you something. She is growing like a weed and loves to box and beat up on Jake (our 12 yr. old Shepherd mix). Jake has really taken to her and plays w/her and now she just wants to be wherever Jake is. I think she has re-energized Jake. She is the sweetest and smartest little girl ever. Thank you!! I can't tell Norcal Boxer Rescue enough, how much joy she has added to our family and how much she is loved!

Gabby
Hi there! Gabby is doing great. She is getting big - we had to move her collar to the last hole. When it gets too big I will have to get it back to you to use on another rescue dog. When she was at the vet last week she was up to 31 lbs. Everybody loved her there and can't believe we got her from a rescue agency and not a breeder. She loves the sun and also the fireplace. She is doing pretty good with sit, shake, and lay down and we start puppy classes next Saturday. Have you heard how her sister Patches is doing?

Mack
Hi guys, We just wanted to thank ya'll for another wonderful addition to our family. Zoe dropped Mack off today and after Ranger made sure everyone knew that he was the alpha male of the house everything was great. Mack, Molly and Ranger played all evening and wore each other out then Mack decided that dad's lap was his new place to nap. He doesn't just lay his head in my lap, he lays his whole body in my lap. (I love it). Molly and he play like kids constantly and Ranger just stands over the two of them letting them know who is boss. We can't tell you enough how much we appreciate all your hard work for these beautiful Boxers. We couldn't have picked a better match for our family.
See ya at the next pet fair,
Brian, Staci, Ranger, Molly and Big Mack

Tucker
I know that it has been a while, but I wanted to let you know how
Stryker (Tucker) was doing! He is a pretty good little dog -although
there are times (as with most Boxers) we could just scream! (but then
you have to laugh at him)
He is doing pretty well with the horse and the electric fence bit. He
stays in his part of the "yard" and pretty well leaves the horses alone.
He will sit by the pool and just wait while I am down riding or grooming
and feeding them (which is a good boy! For him).
We took him to the NATRC Convention in Stillwater and he LOVED riding in the glass elevator....that was the biggest thrill in the world for him! In fact, one time George was opening the door - and he ran past him to the elevator and just stood there wagging his tail! He behaved so well in the hotel and was really good - everyone had to stop and pet him!
We had him at a horse show in Oklahoma and he LOVES to go with us in the truck. At night he curls up underneath the table (we put his bed there) so it is like a den for him. We can leave him in the trailer and he doesn't rip anything up, either. Our other boxer, Ty, tried to chew through the screen door and George was pretty upset about that! Of
course, we don't let him get too close to the horses.....
Our church had a function called "horse fest" and the people from Petsmart came....we took Stryker there and he sat in his crate and greeted everyone that came over to their booth - sort of a good will ambassador for their "adopt a pet" program!
He really has fit well into the house...about the only issue we have with him is that he will start to eat - and then stare at his food bowl as if it possessed and take a mouthful of food into the living room and drip dog kibble all over the place......He gets really jumpy when he eats - but he doesn't snap or anything....just acts paranoid as if the food dish is haunted. We tried moving his dish to various parts of the kitchen, but it is the same. Sometimes you have to laugh at him.......
George bought him one of those Jolly Balls with a handle and you would think that it was the best present in the world. We play a lot with it and he loves it! He isn't doing too good on the "drop it" part, as he usually runs off, drops it and then it is a race to get to the ball first. But he is a sweet dog - barks a lot when people come to the door, but as soon as you tell him OK it is over and done with. He will watch TV with us, and usually has to lay with his head on my foot....or in contact with some part of us.

Alice
Ms. Penny (formerly Alice) snuggled all night! She woke before 4am and I took her out and we went back to bed. Today was her débuted at the dog park and boy did she have fun! The look on her face when she met Gabe....like WHAT IS THAT?!? My sister's boxer and Penny got along like sisters! Gabe she had to figure out he was a dog first. Then came the Great Danes! 5 of them all at the gate spotted the new girl and she ran so fast! Found us and the benches away from them. Safety zone! It was a hoot. She's on the couch next to me sleeping and we took a great nap today. I put her in the crate this morning for an hour and when I came back Penny was thrilled to see me. Took her for
a long walk. There is one side of the couch I guess she is claiming. Last night we watched TV together on the couch.... Well everyone loves her!! Hope your having a great day!!! Ms. Penny gives you kisses!
Thank you, Donna Reineck

Jack
We just love him…and get so many great comments about how mannerly he is…I try not to tell them about the cookies, gingerbread men, my fancy-pants cheese, and powdered sugar he has managed to finesse off of the kitchen counter…we now store atop the refrigerator!!

Moxie
I hope you are having a great weekend. We just wanted to let you know how this little girl is doing. GREAT! She settled right in, there have been a few power struggles but overall she is fine. We had a night of musical beds, mostly because I get so hot. Moxie (now Molly) follows me like a shadow, she may be my dog more than Bill's she is asleep at my feet now. She is good about going out, she seems to enjoy our yard. Thank you again for giving her to us and doing such a great job with her. Your friends, Bill & Gail

Kasper
Kasper is doing wonderful. He is still pretty cautious about things, but he comes out of his shell a little more all the time. His new thing is to sneak up behind Jonathan when he's on the floor, let out a huge bark right in his ear, then run. Jonathan isn't too crazy about this new game, but it's so funny. Kasper loves to be chased, but doesn't like it so much when you actually catch him! Mr. Dog (Kasper's nick name) now weighs in at 75 lbs (at 10 months!) so he's quite a handful to play with. Even though he's so big and acts so tough, he's just a big baby and still leans on my legs for comfort. More often than not, he's in my lap (well, part of him is on my lap) on the couch or in the chair. He just finished obedience class and will attend graduation on Saturday. He was one of the best behaved dogs in the class and caught on very quickly! We are very proud of him. I am very excited to let you know that we will be moving in the next few weeks to a bigger house with a much bigger backyard! We are excited for ourselves, but I think we are more excited for Zoey and Kasper to have a bigger house and yard to run around in. -Shelly

Molly, (formerly Jaquee), has made herself right at home. Her and her brother Ranger are getting along great. They play constantly and keep each other worn out. Our Vet took her stitches out friday and says she looks great. I believe she has already put on some weight, her ribs aren't near as noticeable as when I first saw her. We are so happy we found NCBR and were able to adopt her. She is beautiful and already a part of the family.
Thanks again for all your hard work and saving these beautiful boxers,
Brian, Staci, Ranger and Molly

Bea "AKA" Kate
Hi there! I have a few little pics of Bea (Kate) that I took with my camera phone, but I will take good ones tonight with our digital camera and pass them along too.
Bea is doing so well. She is just a wiggle-fest when she is excited...which is pretty much all of the time! We laugh at how fast she can get that little tail of hers wagging- we are pretty sure she could generate enough electricity to run a small village with all of that energy she has!
Other than attention from her parents (which is her favorite), she loves the backyard, playing with Casey, chasing squirrels, and she LOVES the dog park. She is a very popular dog park visitor and gets people asking lots of questions about boxers!
My office is very dog friendly and we are welcome to bring our pets to work with us an whenever I bring Bea, she is the hit of the office! On days when I don't bring her I will have at least one or two people to stop by my office just to see if she is here and ask about her :)
I will send you better pictures later- but for now, here you go!

Oh My Gosh!!! We had so much fun with her last night. I brought her home to acclimate for a while with my family and their pups. That was hilarious!!They played until she could hardly keep her eyes open she was so tired. I then let her take a nap for a while and took her to a baseball playoff game just to watch. She was so tired she slept completely through the night. She then woke up at 7:00 this morning and has been playing ever since. She is so awesome!!! I love her so much. I am a proud daddy to say the least!! Take care and I will keep in touch!!

Well, Beau went to his new home tonight. Another adoption completed:) Is it just me, or does this get harder and harder every time? I will certainly miss that sweet boy! However, I am 100% confidant that he went to a wonderful home. I know they will take great care of him, and he went willingly...so excited to go for a ride in the car.
